It sorta identifies how far they are from the server. A ping that high may be on the other side of the planet.
In the US pings generally are 0-75.
Mexico seem to be high around 150
Europe & South America is usually around 150-200
The Middle East area seems to be around 200-250

Well I am now hardwired to the router, I consistently ping 48. If someone is trying to play with a ping in the 200's, I can usually kill them before they even have a chance to fire at me . . .
